TextRanch Basics

TextRanch is an awesome service that lets you check your English! You just enter some text and our English experts will read and correct it for you. All of our registered customers get one FREE revision each day -- give us a try at textranch.com

TextRanch offers a range of editing services to meet most needs. For short pieces of text, use our Quick Text option.

For longer text, or if you need more in-depth assistance, upload your entire document to our Document service.

Our Instant Sentence Checker allows you to simply enter two similar sentences and then it will tell you which one is more popular. Included in the Sentence Checker is a library of common phrases that our editors have prepared to give you the correct usage, common issues with the phrase, and alternatives to use.

My Account

There is no cost to register your account, and every registered TextRanch customer receives a FREE revision every single day! Registering an account will also provide you with easy tracking for all of your revisions, comparisons, and payments made.
It’s super simple! Go to TextRanch.com and click REGISTER at the top right of the page. Then just follow the onscreen instructions to proceed.
No. For ease of revision management, each customer is limited to one TextRanch account.

Note: To prevent abuse of our generous FREE daily credit, only one free credit can be redeemed per household per day.
Filling in this section of your account is completely optional, but knowing more about our customers will help us create the most useful editing features for you.

It’s possible you registered your account using the Google or Facebook method, and those methods do not require a password. Try using those methods to see if you can access your account.

If you are certain you used a password when opening your account, then begin the login process by clicking LOGIN at the top right of the page. Then click the “Forgot password?” link at the bottom of the login pop-up and follow the instructions to reset your password.

Make sure you are using the same method to log in as you used to create your TextRanch account. If you used the Google or Facebook methods to open your account, you must use that same method to log in.

If you have tried using the Google and Facebook buttons to log in and are still getting the error message, then please contact Lilly at lilly@textranch.com with your login information so she can get our team to investigate the problem for you.

Payments

Absolutely! We use a secure banking site to make sure that your information is kept secure.
Log in to your TextRanch account and click MY ACCOUNT at the top right of the page. On your Account page, click “Payment details” at the left to display your purchase history.
You sure can! Just follow these steps:
  1. Log into your TextRanch account.
  2. Click MY ACCOUNT at the top right of the page.
  3. Click "Payment details" on the left side of the page.
  4. Review the list of your payment methods and click the checkmark underneath the option you want to make your default method.
  5. Delete any methods that are no longer valid or that you no longer wish to use.
This is a rare problem, but can sometimes occur if you are trying to use a different payment method than the one you previously chose to be your default method. To fix this problem follow these steps:
  1. Log into your TextRanch account.
  2. Click MY ACCOUNT at the top right of the page.
  3. Click "Payment details" on the left side of the page.
  4. Review the list of your payment methods and click the checkmark underneath the option you want to make your default method.
  5. Delete any methods that are no longer valid or that you no longer wish to use.
If your default payment method is not working, this is usually because your bank has refused the payment for some reason. In this case, you should see a pop-up message explaining why the purchase could not be completed. You can try a different method, or you can contact your bank for more information.

If you have sufficient funds available and your credit card has not expired, then the problem could be that your bank’s automatic verification system might have incorrectly flagged the purchase as suspicious. This can happen the first time you use a specific credit card with an online business (it's similar to the way sometimes emails you want from new contacts can end up in the spam folder by accident).

One way to fix this is by speaking to your bank to let them know you authorize payments to TextRanch.com. Alternatively, you could use PayPal to make your purchase by using the PayPal button in our checkout system.

Refunds

You should be confident that every TextRanch revision you receive is accurate. If there is ever an error in your text, we’ll review that for you and redo the work to correct the error. Let us know about errors within 48 hours by leaving feedback directly on the revision page, so that a member of our quality control team can review your concern.
No. Although the editor did not make any changes, they spent time reading your text, and they used their expertise to determine whether or not what you wrote is correct. If no changes were required, then you can be confident that what you have written is good and can be used without hesitation.
If you purchase a Credit Package and decide within 30 days that TextRanch is just not a good match for you, we will be happy to provide you with a prorated refund for any credits remaining in your account.

At TextRanch your satisfaction is our top priority. Please bring your concerns to our attention within 48 hours of receiving your revision so that a member of our quality control team can review the work and provide you with a new revision if errors are present.

We know how important it is to receive your revised text in a timely manner. If your Quick Text revision takes more than two (2) hours to process please let us know and we will refund the credits you spent.

If you purchase a Credit Package and decide within 30 days that TextRanch is just not a good match for you, we will be happy to provide you with a prorated refund for any credits remaining in your account.

Privacy and security

Your text is kept completely private and secure on our site. We do not share your information with anyone outside of our company.
The only people who will see your texts are our editors, our quality control team and, occasionally, our customer service staff. Some customers choose to redact sensitive information; doing so should not affect the quality of your text as long as you use replacement characters to make it clear a word belongs in that space.
Our editors will be able to provide you with the best suggestions if you use the same unique replacement characters for each unique word you need to redact.

For example: On DATE, XXX sold his AAA to YYY for $123. On DATE2, YYY sold the AAA to ZZZ for $456. YYY was happy with the profits he made.
We share comparisons publicly on our site to act as a resource for other customers. We recommend that you do not enter any personal or private information into the Instant Sentence Checker.
  • We use your email address to notify you when your revision is ready.
  • Occasionally, we will also contact you if our quality control team discovers any irregularities with one of your revisions.
  • We also send promotional emails from time to time, but you can unsubscribe from those mailings at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” at the bottom of any of those emails.

Editors

At TextRanch we only trust the quality provided by human editors. Every revision is completed by a real person who has passed our stringent qualification testing.
TextRanch editors come from all around the world. We have editors on every continent!
All of our editors must pass a stringent qualification test that ensures they have a good understanding of English spelling and grammar rules.

Editing Options

To keep our prices low and our service as fast as possible, we use a special automatic queuing system to efficiently assign work to the next available editor. With this system, it is not possible to request a specific editor.
  • Using our Quick Text method, you can submit up to 2100 characters at one time.
  • With our Document service, there is no limit to the length of text you can submit.
If you have more than 2100 characters, you can use our Document service to upload your text as a .doc or .docx file. Alternatively, you can break your text into pieces that are shorter than 2100 characters and submit the smaller pieces individually.
TextRanch offers two convenient ways to submit your text. For shorter pieces of text (up to 2100 characters), use our Quick Text method. For longer documents, use our Document service to conveniently upload your entire document.
No. At TextRanch our goal is to make your own words be the best they can be. Our editors do not rewrite your text; they will only correct errors and provide suggestions for some better phrasing.
No. At TextRanch our goal is to make your own words be the best they can be. Once you have written your ideas, our editors will help to make sure there are no English errors and that the text is natural sounding.
No. TextRanch editors will not complete your homework for you, but they can correct your work after you complete the work first. Make your best guesses, then submit your finished work to have an editor ensure your answers are correct.

Adjusting the length of your text is a complicated job that can be very time consuming, so we do not offer this as a part of our Quick Text service.

If you require assistance with reducing the length of your text, you should use our Document service and select the Premium service level. Be sure to leave a note for your editor explaining the adjustments you require.

It is important to note that our editors will do their best to assist you with adjusting the length of your text, but it may not always be possible to retain all of your ideas if you need significant reductions in length. In addition, while our editors may be able to add a few words to your writing, they will not write new material to significantly lengthen your text.

Quick Text Editing

This method is ideal for short pieces of text, and is a quick and cost-effective way to get your English checked!

To use this method:

  1. Go to our Quick Text page.
  2. Enter your text directly into the text box.
  3. Scroll down the page to pick a service level (Basic or Advanced), leave a note for your editor, and choose the correct options for your text.
  4. Proceed to the checkout and pay using TextRanch credits, your credit card, or PayPal.

Basic Editing: This service allows you to submit up to 2100 characters of plain text at one time. When you select this service level, your text will be assigned to the next available editor who will do a quick review of your text to correct spelling and grammar errors. This is the perfect service if you need fast turnaround times and maximum value!

Advanced Editing: This service allows you to submit up to 2100 characters of plain text at one time. When you select this service level, your text will be assigned to the next available senior editor who will do a more thorough review of your text to not only correct spelling and grammar errors, but to also provide some style improvements. Choose this service level when you need a bit of extra help to get top quality, highly polished results.

Please note that during periods of increased demand for our services, choosing Advanced Editing may result in slightly slower turnaround times.

  • For our editors to do the best job, they need as much context as possible. This means you’ll get better results when you enter your entire sentence into the text box.
  • Selecting Advanced Editing will allow you to add some notes about your text to provide clarity about your intended meaning. Take a few moments to provide some extra details in a note to your editor. Every bit of information helps us make the best suggestions for you!
Here are some ideas about information that is helpful to our editors:
  • The reason you have written the text.
  • Information from an email to which you are responding.
  • Information from the assignment you have been given.
  • Explanations about any special words or terms in your text.
  • Any important words that should or should not be used in the final text.
No, you do not have to leave a note. But if our editors don’t have enough information, it’s possible they will not be able to fully revise your text.

Currently, most TextRanch revisions are completed in under 10 minutes. However, during periods of high demand, this wait can be longer; sometimes up to 60 minutes.

Please note that since Advanced Editing is limited to just a small pool of highly qualified senior editors, the delay time for this service level may be slightly longer.

My Texts

Log in to your TextRanch account and click MY TEXTS at the top right of the page.
The colors are there to help you see the changes your editor made.
Red lines indicate text your editor removed.
Green highlights show the text your editor added.
Click the icon (located just above your corrected text) to show or hide the changes your editor made.
Click the icon (located just above your corrected text) to expand the display to show your original text, the note you wrote to your editor, and the editing options you selected.
Click the icon (located just above your corrected text) to quickly copy the corrected version of your text to paste it where you need to use it.
Our editors’ main job is to make sure your text is error free. While our editors will often consider your questions about word choice when they make the corrections to your text, it’s not usually possible for them to provide detailed answers to your questions.

At TextRanch our goal is to make your own words be the best they can be. If you have already chosen the best words to express the idea, then our editors won’t make changes that reduce the quality of your writing.

It’s also possible that the editor did not have enough information to make the right changes. Please refer to any notes the editor left you to understand why no changes were made.

Beneath each revision you will find a feedback box. Choose a star rating for your revision and leave a brief comment to let us know what you think.

Every piece of feedback is sent directly to the editor who completed the revision as well as to our quality control team for review. If you have a concern, please tell us as much as possible so that we can do our best to ensure your satisfaction.

Document Editing

This method is best for important documents, longer texts, and lightly formatted text. Using the Document service will result in very consistent edits since only one editor will work on your document.

To use the Document method, go to our Document service page and upload your .doc or .docx file. Answer a few questions about your document and you’ll be instantly shown a price for editing.

2. Premium Full-Document Editing: This service allows you to upload an entire document to be thoroughly reviewed and edited by a senior editor.
